El Torcal & Antequera: Nature & Culture in One Perfect Day

El Torcal de Antequera: Walk among ancient rock formations

El Torcal is a UNESCO-listed nature reserve known for its extraordinary limestone formations, shaped over millions of years. Walking here feels almost otherworldly.

There are several well-marked hiking routes:

Green route (1.5 km) – short and easy
Yellow route (3 km) – moderate and most popular
Longer routes available for more experienced hikers (these can be explored independently, but a guide is a great option to get the most out of the landscape)

The paths are easy to follow and suitable for most fitness levels. Expect incredible views, quiet nature, and a completely different side of Andalusia.

Best time to go: morning or late afternoon (cooler & quieter)

Antequera: History, views & local charm

After your walk, head into the nearby town of Antequera, a hidden gem rich in history and authentic Andalusian life.

Wander through charming streets, visit:

  • The impressive Alcazaba (fortress) with panoramic views
  • Beautiful churches and quiet squares
  • Local shops and traditional cafés

Antequera feels more local and less touristy, exactly what many of our guests love.

Our tip: Lunch at Loulu

For a relaxed and stylish lunch, we recommend Loulu — a modern spot with a great atmosphere, delicious dishes, and a fresh take on local cuisine.

Perfect after a morning hike.
