Caminito del Rey – Andalusia’s most spectacular walk
Just 45 minutes from Cortijo Valverde, you’ll find one of the most iconic experiences in southern Spain: the Caminito del Rey.
Once known as the “most dangerous path in the world”, this breathtaking walkway has been fully restored and is now a safe and unforgettable hike through the dramatic El Chorro gorge.
Expect narrow boardwalks attached to steep cliffs, stunning views over turquoise waters, and a unique perspective on Andalusia’s rugged landscape.
What to expect
- Duration: 2–3 hours (walking route)
- Distance: approx. 7.5 km
- Difficulty: easy to moderate
- Type: one-way walk (start north, finish south)
It’s suitable for most people with a basic level of fitness and one of the highlights of the region.
Tickets and planning
Tickets for Caminito del Rey are released around 4 months in advance and tend to sell out quickly, especially the self-guided tickets, which are always the first to go.
We recommend:
- Booking early if you know your dates
- Arriving at least 1 hour before your time slot
Planning ahead will make your visit much smoother.
Book directly on the Caminito del Rey website
Parking and Shuttle
Because the Caminito is a one-way hike, parking works a little differently:
- You can park at the north entrance (Ardales) and take the shuttle bus back
- Or park near the south exit (El Chorro) and take the shuttle bus first
The shuttle bus requires cash payment, so don’t forget to bring some.
Early start? We’ve got you covered
If you’re heading out early in the morning, we’re happy to prepare a breakfast package to take with you, so you can start your day relaxed and well prepared.
Make it a full day in El Chorro
Many guests combine the Caminito with other activities in the area, such as:
- Horse riding in El Chorro
- Visiting the lakes of Ardales
- A relaxed lunch with views
It’s the perfect mix of adventure and nature.
